Consultations are by appointment although urgent problems can be seen as needed. Each appointment is normally for 15 minutes and we appreciate a phone call if you are going to be late or need to change the time. If appointments are not kept without letting us know in reasonable time to re-book them, a fee may be charged. We will also endeavour to contact you if we are running late due to accidents and emergency cases.

It is very helpful if you can say whether your appointment is or a particular need such as ACC, ante-natal, insurance medical, contraception, complementary medicine, acupuncture etc so they can be fitted in appropriately. If you think you may need more time please ask for a longer appointment.

After hours - including Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays:
Full 24 hours emergency service is available after hours by phoning 03 540 2211. If there is a medical emergency and delay in reaching the duty doctor, phone 111. Home visits and urgent call outs are normally restricted to patients who live in the Mapua and Moutere districts. Those living in other areas may need to consider contacting the local medical service in that area for emergencies or arrange to go directly to A & E at Nelson hospital.

After-hours calls are initially put though to a nursing triage service that can give medical advice.
